Mildred Joanne Izquierdo is 16 years old. She was born in New York City and studies at the Passaic Academy of Science and Engineering and at Bergen Community College.
Her outstanding work has earned her a place in advanced-credit courses, and she is a member of the National Honor Society.
Outside of school, Mildred does community service, such as packing food for low-income households and tutoring children from immigrant families. She also volunteers to support the work of the Fuerza Migrante Foundation.
