Laura Valle

Laura lives in Chicago, Illinois. She arrived in the U.S. when she was 15 and was able to finish college thanks to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. That also allowed her to “get out of the shadows” and open her own restaurant. During the COVID-19 pandemic she has been fighting to keep his restaurant open with take- out and delivery orders and donating a lot of meals for people in need. Like millions of immigrants, Laura pays taxes in the United States and contributes to the economy with her own business. She is afraid that all of that might evaporate if the DACA program is cancelled and is forced to face
deportation.
