Li Adorno
Li started to organise DACA youngsters when he was very young himself. He is one of the founders of the COSECHA organization, a network that mobilises communities of migrants, and that amongst other things has made possible the issuance of driving licenses in several states, regardless of immigration status.
“Commander Li -as he is known amongst his colleagues- is a flagship example for lots of Mexicans, so that people know that nothing is achieved without the actions of the oppressed”, said Teresa Vivar, who nominated Li as our #MigrantHero. Li came to the U.S from Mexico when he was just 7 and found his place in New Jersey.
On September 2017 he was arrested for civil disobedience while protesting against the decision of the Trump administration to abolish the DACA program. He walked from New York to Washington, D.C. as a sign of protest and was part of #DREAM7, a group of undocumented activists that organised a hunger strike during a week, as a sign of support for the DREAMERS. During the COVID-19 pandemic he jumpstarted with some of his colleagues, an effort to raise funds to help undocumented families impacted by the coronavirus.
